The book donation programme organized by the UWU library with the purpose of giving opportunity to enjoy reading of books by elders who are living in elders home was held on August, 8, 2018. More than 500 books were donated to Kailagoda and Redeepana Elders Home, Badulla. The event was coordinated by Ms.D.P.C.Vithana, Assistant Librarian. The staff members and students of the UWU along with some of outside well-wishers contributed to this activity.





A workshop on “e-Resources and services through the UGC- Consortium of Sri Lankan Academic Libraries” organized by the library with objectives of increasing the access to scholarly journals and increasing the research productivity of UWU’s staff, which was held on 07th December, 2017. Dr. Pradeepa Wijetunge, Librarian, University of Colombo was conducted the workshop as resource person.

Mrs. A.S. Siriwardana, Librarian, assumed the duty as 1st Librarian of the UWU library (Sabbatical placement from Rajarata University of Sri Lanka) on 1st August 2017. She has extensive experience in library management, services and more. In her way forward to working with library staff to build on the solid foundation which have been laid and to realise UWU’s potential for the future. 

Mrs. A.S. Siriwardana, will take the library forward as heart of the university, while ensuring it remains true to its vibrant research, teaching and learning culture at the university. 


One day workshop on Research Management Tools & Techniques for UWU academics   was organized by the Library in collaboration with the UWU Staff Development Centre with the view to enhance the research and publication capacity of the UWU academics.  This one day work shop was taken place on 24th October 2017 from 8.00 am to 4.00 pm at Computer lab, Uva Wellassa University. The workshop was conducted by Prof.R.Balasubramani, Department of Library & Information Science, Bharathidasan University, India and Dr.T.Pratheepan, Senior Assistant Librarian, UWU as resource persons.

The workshop gave a potent platform to the UWU academics to cope with the modern challenges in their research and publication activities. The new approaches will go a long way in creating vibrant research culture in the UWU.
